It’s hard to believe that summer is just about over, and that the program year will be starting on September 9!  I have been planning throughout the summer months for this upcoming year, creating the children’s Christmas Pageant, and planning the music for the Chancel and Handbell Choirs.  It looks like it’s going to be a busy year!

Thank you to those who participated in special music during summer Worship!  It was great to see some new faces, and to hear from those who have taken part in the past.  I hope to have various instrumental and vocal music throughout the fall months.

The Chancel Choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, September 5, at 7:15 p.m.  Please think about joining the choir!  Our weekly rehearsals prepare for singing in Worship every Sunday (starting Kick-Off Sunday), and also participating in special Worship services (i.e. Thanksgiving Interfaith, Christmas Eve).  This year, we’ll be doing a variety of different music genres.  Whatever we do, we always have a great time!

Our handbells are currently being refurbished by Malmark, the company that we bought them through.  The refurbishing process takes 30 days, during which our three octaves of bells will be tuned, repaired if necessary, and made to look like new!  Since our set of handbells was sent out in August, we will not receive them back until mid-September.  The handbell choir will resume once we have them back.  If you are interested in joining this choir, please let me know.  Once we resume, rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.

During the program year, starting September 9, we will again incorporate Acolytes into the Worship service. The Acolytes are school age children between 2nd and 5th grades, and are responsible for lighting and extinguishing the candles during Worship. If you are interested in having your child become or remain an acolyte, please let me know.

Lastly, I want to thank the whole congregation for praying for me when I underwent surgery in August.  Thank you for your support, your prayers and thoughts; the cards I received and meals that were provided were such a blessing.  I feel privileged to be your Director of Music Ministries and feel a part of the church family here at Bower Hill.  I look forward to this program year!
