As the holiday season is well underway, there are many things happening with the music program at Bower Hill!  Our Handbell Choir is performing at Concordia of the South Hills on December 4 at 7:00 p.m.  We are playing a variety of music for the holiday and will be joined by Jason Robosky (saxophone) in our pieces.  The Handbell Choir is also playing in Worship on December 15, with a special piece, “The Little Drummer Boy,” and with special percussionists, Lydon and Amelia Cameron.

The Three Rivers Ringers Handbell Ensemble will be performing at Bower Hill on Friday, December 13, at 8:00 p.m.  Note the new ticketing policies:  Tickets are $7 online up until the day of the concert (www.threeriversringers.showclix.com), and are $10 at the door.  Children 12 and under may attend free with a paid adult ticket.  This concert is part of  the TRR Winter Concert Series.  They will be playing favorite holiday songs, including “Silver Bells,” “I Wonder as I Wander,” and “In the Bleak Midwinter.” It’s the perfect way to “ring” in the holiday season!

Last, but certainly not least, the Chancel Choir is readily preparing for singing every Sunday in Advent and for Christmas Eve, as well a special Christmas Concert on December 22 at 4:00 p.m. in the Bower Hill sanctuary.  We will be joined by Coraopolis United Methodist Church in a Christmas concert featuring music by both choirs and selections from Handel’s “Messiah.”

Please come to these concerts to support your ensembles, and to enjoy the music of the season!

Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve will start with instrumental and vocal music at 6:30 p.m.  During the prelude and throughout the service, we will be hearing from our instrumentalists, Jason Rising (trumpet), Chris Robbins (trombone), Rich Salvante (violin), Jason Robosky (saxophone), Amanda Vosburgh (cello) and our vocalists, Aaron Jones, Troy Bailey, Lynne Wohleber, and Jean Miewald.  We will also be hearing some small ensemble music as well the Chancel Choir singing anthems.
