Rev. Brian Snyder

Brian, a native of Oil City, PA, has been our pastor since August, 2010. Prior to coming to us, he served as a pastor for five years in Lake Erie Presbytery. Brian has been employed by Presbyterian institutions since 1995, when he began a five-year term as English teacher and administrator at a mission school in Cameroon, Africa. Upon returning to the States, he worked two years at Stony Point, a church retreat center in the Hudson Valley. In 2002 Brian enrolled at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where he received several awards for skillful preaching. Also at seminary, he met and married Michelle, who is an administrator and mental health therapist at Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute. They have two daughters: Chloe (7) and Greta (6). Brian is currently writing his doctoral dissertation—“The Preacher as Poet: An Aesthetic of Homiletics”—for Colgate Rochester Divinity School. Avid gardeners, Brian and his “three ladies” live on the remains of an old farm in South Fayette Township. Brian is fluent in French, albeit with a West African accent. He is an avid weekly hiker and kayaker.
